TCM's Mission Policy is to see unbelieving people around the world, become disciples and disciple makers for Jesus Christ.
The Mission Council members have been trained to "Serve as Senders".
We at the TCM Mission Council define Mission as our church’s fulfilment of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ outlined in Matthew 28:19—20 ”Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
TCM supports a number of missionaries serving the Lord in RAF Waddington, Nepal, Afghanistan, Africa, and Romania.
The TCM Mission Council’s purpose is to encourage the fulfilment of the Great Commission by making known to the church the needs of the missionaries we support.
As you may know the Mission Council members lead the prayers at the morning services following the offering, and we focus on a different mission or missionary each week.
We also like to distribute our missionaries newsletters, which can sometimes be found in the foyer, at the back of the church.
If you feel you would like to do more to support our missionaries please contact Ken Davison (Mission Deacon) or Martin Daubney (Mission Elder).
The TCM mission council has several aims. We administer the financial support for the various missionaries that we have contact with, we maintain contact with our missionaries and provide them with prayer support, and we keep the rest of the church up-to-date with news from the missionaries. Each member of the council is responsible for an individual or family, and has the chance to build up a good relationship with them. You will see us praying at the front of church each Sunday morning for the people we have contact with.
TCM, as an outward-looking church, provides generous financial support for full-time missionaries both in this country and abroad. We support people working as evangelists in Europe, Africa, and Asia, and also those who are training others in evangelism and mission in this country. Each of the missionaries that we support has different needs. Some are working in very poor situations, and have great material needs. All of the people that we support benefit from our prayers as a council and as a church.
Belonging to the mission council is a privilege in lots of ways. It is good for us as a council, and the whole church, to hear of the work being done by the people that we have contact with. It's always encouraging for us to hear of the exciting work that's going on all over the world, and for us to be reminded of the need for evangelism in all parts of the world, and also that we in Lincoln are part of the world-wide church. We support those who have been called to work full-time in spreading the good news, but we also remember that all of us are called to this work in some capacity.
